Chicken Shami Kabab



  • Minced lamb – ½ kilo

  • Bengal gram (chana dal) – 3 tablespoons soaked in water for 2 hours

  • Green chillies – 4 (chopped finely)

  • Coriander and mint leaves (chopped finely) – 2 teaspoons together

  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tablespoon

  • Red chilly powder

  • Turmeric powder

  • Salt

  • Black pepper powder – 1 teaspoon (optional)

  • Garam Masala powder – 1 teaspoon (optional)

  • lemon juice

  • Onion – 1 (finely chopped)

  • Oil


Step 1: Heat about 2 tablespoons of oil and fry the onions till light brown.


Step 2: Add the ginger garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.


Step 3: Add the meat, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, green chillies, black pepper powder, green chillies, garam masala powder, bengal gram. Mix well


Step 4: Cook till the mixture becomes dry.


Step 5: Remove from the stove and let it cool down. Add the coriander and mint leaves. Grind it to a paste. Add lemon juice.

Step 6: Heat about ¼ cup of oil in a pan.


Step 7: Make small balls with the meat mixture. Flatten each ball on your palm so that they are about 1 inch thick and 2 inch long kebabs. 

Step 8: Shallow fry them in hot oil for about 4-5 minutes till they are golden brown.

Serve hot with chapati.
